Blog
Hello friends!
My name’s Carmen and I’m a qualified Food Coach and Reiki Practitioner based in Melbourne. I have been on a quest to live a healthier lifestyle through healthy eating, Reiki, yoga, and meditation.
My own personal battle with illness led me on my journey to discover just how powerful food is in sustaining or destroying our health and wellbeing. My journey also led me to discover that our emotional state (amongst other factors) also plays an important role in our overall health.
My hope for my blog is that it be a supportive environment where you can discover something that will inspire and assist you on your own personal journey to health.
With love,
Carmen xo

3 Tips To Starting Off On The Right Health Track
Change isn’t easy, especially when it comes to our health. When we’ve had a long day at work and we just can’t be bothered cooking dinner, we can often make unhealthy choices, like fast food. We can feel guilty when we’ve had that extra slice of cake, or returned home...
Apple, Carrot & Beetroot Salad
Makes approx 6 - 8 cups.(Vegan, gluten free, dairy free, egg free, soy free, sugar free.)This is a sweet, ‘earthy’ salad that I love to eat often. It’s very nutritious and the addition of nuts and seeds adds some extra healthy fats. Try experimenting with different...
Choc Chip Peppermint Balls
(Vegan, gluten free, dairy free, egg free, soy free, sugar free.) Makes approx 20 - 22 balls. These are high in protein and healthy fats, and a good source of magnesium. The spirulina powder gives it the green colour, and a little bit does go a long way! I've...
Flourless ANZAC Biscuits

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of weight-loss? Diet? Exercise? Maybe a combination of both? What if I told you that other issues may be involved? Below are my top 3 most important non-food-related factors for you to consider when it comes to...
Reflecting On the Year and Goal-Setting for the New Year
As we approach the end of another year, it’s natural to reflect on what we’ve achieved and what we didn’t get around to doing. Here are some questions that you may like to ask yourself: - What lessons have I learned? - How well did I take care of my mind, body and...
Eating Mindfully
I see a lot of people ‘woof’ down their food as if they’re about to have their meal taken away from them. I used to be one of them, and I was for a very long time. Other things always got in the way so even though I loved to eat (and still do), I always ‘squeezed in’...
Willpower…Or Something Else?
Some people are in total control of their eating. They know when they’ve had enough and they stop eating. They may not think about food again until they feel hungry, and I’m referring to real hunger that’s felt with that strong tummy grumbling. Other people have a...
Apples & Blackberries (plus Apple & Blackberry Crumble recipe)
The combination of apple and blackberry is a marriage made in heaven. I remember as a child, eating apple and blackberry pies as a treat and savouring every little morsel.Apples are a good source of dietary fibre (helping you stay full), and vitamin C (helps the...
Flourless Chocolate Cake
(Vegan, gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, soy free) This cake came about when I wanted to create a chocolate cake without wheat, dairy and sugar. I played around with the number of eggs as well as the ratio of wet/dry ingredients, and after some failed attempts...
Raspberries (plus Raw Raspberry Coulis recipe)
Raspberries are plentiful in summer, but are still available year-round. They’re delicate and highly perishable, so you’ll need to store them in the fridge and consume them within a few days. When you bring them home, get rid of any raspberries that don’t quite look...
The Power of Lemons
Who doesn't love lemons with their vibrant yellow exterior and the scent of freshly grated lemon rind that uplifts the mood in an instant? It may not come as a surprise to many of us that lemons are high in vitamin C which helps to fight infection as well as helping...
Tomatoes (plus Bottled Tomatoes recipe)
I love summer - being outdoors, the warmth, daylight savings, and everything in between. My veggie garden is brimming with fruit and veggies by this time. In particular, I have an abundance of tomatoes. There is nothing like growing your own tomatoes. They have a...
Kale (plus Kale & Almond Crackers recipe)
I'm sure that many of you will think that I’m mad when you read this, but I salivate at the thought of kale. I love them so much that I grow them in my garden. Unfortunately, my kale supply can't keep up with demand so if I long for that delicious bitter goodness, I...
Avocados (plus Chocolate Mousse recipe)
One thing that I missed when I changed to a healthy eating lifestyle, was Chocolate Mousse - the smooth, light texture that just melted in my mouth and, of course, the chocolate! I was mad for chocolate! Fortunately, I have a healthier Chocolate Mousse recipe that...
